Dental caries

Caries, or tooth decay, is the destruction of hard tooth tissues caused by bacteria that produce acid from food debris on the surface of the teeth.

Caries can lead to tooth destruction, pain, and infections if not treated promptly. Timely and effective caries treatment is crucial for preserving teeth and preventing serious complications.

  • Poor Oral Hygiene. Inadequate brushing and flossing;
  • Sugar Consumption. Frequent consumption of sugary foods and drinks;
  • Genetic Predisposition. Some people have a hereditary tendency to develop caries;
  • Dry Mouth. Insufficient saliva production, which helps wash away food particles and neutralize acids;
  • Weak Enamel. Weak or underdeveloped tooth enamel.

Types of Caries:

  • Surface Caries. Affects the enamel without reaching deeper layers of the tooth. Treatment: Removal of the affected area and filling;
  • Medium Caries. Affects the enamel and dentin but does not reach the pulp. Treatment: Removal of the affected area, antiseptic treatment, and filling;
  • Deep Caries. Reaches the tooth pulp, causing pain and possible complications. Treatment: Removal of affected tissues, root canal treatment, and restoration with a filling or crown.

Caries Treatment Procedure

  • Diagnosis. Visual examination, X-rays, and other methods to determine the depth and extent of tooth damage;
  • Preparation. Numbing the area around the affected tooth with local anesthesia;
  • Treatment. Removal of decayed tooth tissues using specialized tools;
  • Filling. Restoring the tooth’s shape and function with a filling material matched to the natural tooth color.

Caries Prevention

  • Flossing. Use dental floss daily to remove food particles between teeth;
  • Limit Sugar Intake. Reduce consumption of sugary foods and drinks;
  • Use Fluoride. Apply fluoride treatments to strengthen tooth enamel;
  • Regular Brushing. Brush your teeth at least twice a day with fluoride toothpaste;
  • Regular Dental Check-ups. Visit your dentist for check-ups and professional cleanings at least twice a year.

Caries treatment is crucial for maintaining dental health and preventing serious complications.

Timely dental visits and adherence to oral hygiene recommendations will help keep your teeth healthy and beautiful for many years.

Indicated for children after three years for any type of treatment, adolescences and adults as well.

Digital treatments protocols

We have implemented accurate digital protocols for surgical planning and aesthetic prosthetics in adult patients in the planning of orthodontic treatment for the smallest patients in difficult cases.

Comprehensive approach

Each patient who comes to our clinic for the first time receives a detailed comprehensive consultation of several specialists on the state of oral health. This is necessary in order to develop an individualized treatment plan that is suitable for this particular person, based on a complex of problems in the oral cavity, and not on a single decayed tooth.
